Jenny Heijun Wills was born in Seoul, South Korea and was adopted and raised in a white family and community in Southern Ontario, Canada. She has lived and worked in Toronto, Montreal, Boston, and Seoul, and currently is associate professor in the Department of English at the University of Winnipeg on Treaty One territory, Manitoba. Her academic writing focuses on narratives of transnational adoption and race in American literature. Creative writing focuses on BIPOC experiences of kinship, love, and desire in Canada and beyond. She completed her PhD in 2012 at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.
